About Julianne aka Aunt Juju

Born and raised in the heartland of Wichita, KS, Julianne possesses the kind of nerdy charm that captivates listeners and makes the complicated feel approachable. Describing herself as perpetually curious and a stellar storyteller, she has an inherent disdain for poorly explained concepts. If there’s one thing that fuels Julianne, it’s her two young nephews. For them, and for all children, she works tirelessly to demystify the world, to ignite curiosity, and to fan the flames of creativity.

Armed with a BS in Microbiology with a minor in Genetics from North Carolina State University, an MS in Public Health in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and an MBA from Georgia Tech, Julianne’s academic prowess is nothing short of impressive.

With 14 illustrious years in the science realm, Julianne’s extensive experiences range from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to biotech companies and all that lies in between. Her roles have spanned research & development, sales, and market development. Notably, she’s delved into the study of bacterial physiology, aiming to create knowledge on how bacteria behave so better medicines can be developed. She’s scrutinized the toxic effects of nanoparticles on neurons and has even been part of a team working on rapid flu detection. Her work on spinal muscular atrophy in a pre-clinical drug lab stands as a testament to her relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation.

After many years in the realm of science, Julianne transitioned into the world of technology across various roles spanning solution engineering, leadership, and operations. Over the last 5 years she has approach the software and technology space with the same fiery passion for demystifying complexity, solving problems, and exploring the unknown as she once did with science.

Away from the microscope and from her laptop, Julianne feeds her wanderlust, having journeyed to 20 countries and 32 US states. She is obsessed with her new boxer puppy Scarlett, who keeps her on her toes. Her ears are often tuned into podcasts, quenching her thirst for knowledge in science, history, tech, and even sports.

Today, Julianne calls the bustling city of Atlanta, GA her home. But whether she’s in her home office, traveling the globe, or simply narrating a tale from her rich tapestry of experiences, Julianne’s mission remains clear: STEM doesn’t have to be boring; it can be a thrilling adventure.
